What should you do with your pool and spa when a major storm hits Central Florida?

You would have a couple of issues to resolve -- some right away, some as time goes on. The first task would be to remove any debris from the pool or spa. Leaves, branches, roof shingles or other material that has blown in can hamper your efforts to control algae growth.

Use a test kit to determine the chemical makeup of the pool water. It is recommended to keep at least three parts per million of chlorine in a pool that has no power.

Clean pool or spa of debre and and rechlorinate using liquid or dissolved granular chlorine.
When there is a power outage, keep power off to pool or spa until power is restored.
Mend or rebuild damaged parimiter fencing.
Get estimates from licensed contractors if repairs are needed and out of your skill level.
